About Me

"Journalism has three critical components: comprehension, ethics, and a willingness to tell the truth. Without them, there's no reason to be at a major network or in a newsroom." - The G-Man

As Associate Editor of “The Wave of Long Island”, he broke compelling, investigative stories that were later picked up by award-winning reporters for the New York Daily News, Newsday and the New York Times.

One story involved gross mismanagement and serious security breaches at a local CVS pharmacy, which forced national directors for the chain to develop a new system for destroying confidential consumer information used when filling millions of prescriptions. The policy was eventually adopted by many of the leading pharmacies and mega-stores in the country.

While the aforementioned story was instrumental in his development as a journalist, Toms gained recognition and acclaim from industry peers during his coverage of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the crash of Flight 587.

When Flight 587 slammed into the Belle Harbor section of Rockaway, just minutes from The Wave office, Toms was the very first correspondent to speak to a national audience, via the CBS and CNN networks, about the horrific event.

His work has been acknowledged by the former editor of the National Almanac of American Politics, Gideon Berger, the National Journal’s John Maggs, a leading reporter for the Washington, D.C. magazine, and several reporters from the New York Times. Each worked very closely with Toms when researching and writing major articles based on the Rockaway area and national issues affecting the Black community.

After resigning from The Wave in February of 2003, Toms embraced the role of Media Consultant at Howard University's Center for Disability and Socioeconomic Policy Studies in Washington, D.C., where he worked with Dr. Sylvia Walker and Dr. George Covington, both of whom were noted White House policy advisers to President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Dan Quayle.

He created and served as editor-in-chief for the independent news and information site “From The G-Man” -- which published breaking and original news content, news videos, special features, editorials, exclusive interviews and up-to-the-minute news provided by the Executive Office of the President of the United States, the White House, the Congress, the office of Governor Andrew Cuomo, and a host of other sources.

In addition, his work has been praised by Emmy award-winning producer Tom Osborne, formerly of ABC World News Tonight....with Peter Jennings, and Jim Flink, Vice President and General Manager of the award-winning news site Newsy.com. Moreover, The G-Man’s work received the endorsement of Les Payne, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and the former managing editor of Newsday.

Currently, he serves as creator and managing editor of "The G-Man Interviews", a YouTube series that showcases current news events and uncensored discussions with celebrities, community activists, social/political figures and foreign policy experts.
